The Dick Mulligan award is presented to an individual who demonstrates a passion for girls hockey and contributes time and expertise to the continued growth of hockey within the Cornwall Girls Hockey Association.
Dick Mulligan was an early pioneer, executive and coaching staff member while the CGHA was in its infancy. With his leadership, the CGHA continued on a slow but progressive climb towards acknowledgement as a very important hub of girls hockey in the Eastern Ontario region. His leadership qualities enabled the CGHA to develop players who went on to Provincial, National and International championships as players and officials.
This year's recipient of the Dick Mulligan Award is Tracy Zettler. Tracy is a hockey coach and executive member of the CGHA. She was nominated for this award for a parent who described Tracy as a calm and understanding individual who will go out of her way to make her players feel that they are an important member of the club. She goes on to state that Tracy is very focused on player development and developing or encouraging off-ice training, volunteering and team building activities.
Tracy has been involved in girls hockey at the tyke level, through to house league and now competitive programming. She has also added to her volunteer duties by standing as an executive member as the Director of Marketing. Perhaps an unknown fact for some is that Tracy was also a player in the early years of the CGHA. She is a prime example of one who gives back to her community. The CGHA is very fortunate to have her as part of our association.
