HOUSE LEAGUE Registration Reminder

 The Ottawa District Women's Hockey Association (ODWHA) is suggesting that associations run their evaluations / sort-outs earlier in order to ensure establishment of teams of equal caliber within the same division. Although as an association we have always held the philosophy of establishing  teams of equal caliber, experience shows us that any number of factors can make this process very difficult if not impossible at times. 

This year, in order to comply with the directives from the ODWHA, we will be running our evaluations/ sort outs in early September.  The association is required to make decisions in terms of number of teams based on paid registrations within each division.  This will mean that wait lists will be implemented with no guarantee of creating additional teams unless the registration numbers justify doing so, within the timelines as set out by ODWHA. As an association in the ODWHA we no longer have the luxury of adding players to create new teams once the season is underway. Adding players to existing teams is possible but must be of a manageable number.

The deadline to submit our expected number of teams as directed by the ODWHA is August 31. The decision as to number of teams and players on a wait list will be made by the CGHA prior to this date.  Movement of players from a wait list to a team will be based on the earliest of the registered applicants within the division.

Evaluations /sort outs will begin in early September, giving each division enough time to establish teams and begin practice sessions prior to the start of the season.
